Our car mascot was a troop of four Barbie Dolls strapped by their little legs to the kangaroo bar at the front of the car. They brought much cheer to all the children of the outback as they toured with 'Vanilla'. A few happy snaps show part of their story.

"Vanilla's Barbie Dolls" - What Really Happened?
Our ambassadors from Bondi,
always there, to lend the children cheer."We were Just showing the girls around", says Vanilla, who staunchly defended his actions.
First of all we must flatly deny the rumours.
Well ok, we were not able to keep an eye on the Barbie quads* (Klause von Barbie, Barbie-que, Barbie-rella, Barbie-wired) for the entire time, but I think that much of what you may have read in the press was wildly exaggerated. And parts of it simply were untrue.
It remains a mystery to us as to just how it all started, and how such a silly thing got so wildly out of hand. If you ask us, the press has a lot to answer for in that regard.Anyway they are all back here in Sydney, and the Barbies are really quite exhausted after their holiday, but were really overwhelmed by all the fuss that was made over them whilst they were away.
I can tell you that the girls really enjoyed that long hot bath upon their return and were so happy to finally have clean hair and nails. Over the ten days, they travelled over six thousand kilometres strapped by their little legs to the front of the car, over the most atrocious roads and still managed to keep smiles on their faces. Frankly I don’t know how they did it. We did our best to preserve their modesty, but the wind played havoc with their little outfits. Actually, the Police were all really helpful, looking back on it now.
They brought back so many stories of the children that they met at some of the remote schools along the way. If you could have just seen the delight on those little kids faces, it made it all worthwhile, even with all the silly press reports. Anyway, I have enclosed some of their holiday pics that show some of their time away on the Variety Club Bash. (They are to be found on the "Barbie's Bash Adventures" page.)
Some of the children simply could not understand why the Barbies would be wearing their beach gear so far from the beach, and what was a beach really like anyway. But as you can imagine, the Barbies all were very patient, and were excellent ambassadors.
Those children! they were indeed a sight to behold.
"Vanilla Queen of the Dessert" is such a nice man, and promises that the Barbies can all come back next year if they all promise to be good. In fact he has even asked them to bring some of their friends next year. Naturally the girls are all very excited.
I would appreciate it greatly if you would be sure to tell Mr Mattel of his little girl’s adventures when next you meet.
