There are no known references to the family in the first fleet. However the National Archives of Ireland make reference to a James Munford aged 18 years who went to trial in County Armagh for Larceny on 07/08/1841 and was sentenced to seven years Transportation to Australia. As yet we have been unable to confirm on which ship he travelled and whether or not he survived the journey.
The notorious Second
Fleet did contain two felons surnamed Mumford for details of their story click here.
